The Australian War Memorial’s travelling exhibition, Framing Conflict: Iraq and Afghanistan - exhibition presents the paintings and photographs Lyndell Brown and Charles Green created in response to their 2007 tour of the Middle East, Afghanistan and the Persian Gulf, as part of the Australian War Memorial’s official war art scheme.

Created in a collaborative manner these enigmatic works provide a unique perspective on conflict. “This husband and wife team work together as one artist and both physically work on each painting. Their art is about combining and melding experiences.” said Warwick Heywood, exhibition curator, Australian War Memorial.

“Not only do Lyndell Brown and Charles Green’s works show us the experiences of Australian men and women involved in these difficult conflicts but they also reveal the strange and complex nature of contemporary warfare,” Mr Heywood said.

The Australian War Memorial’s Travelling Exhibitions Program is funded by the Australian Government’s Commemorations Program.

Presented as part of the Academy Gallery National Exhibition Touring Program in partnership with the Australian War Memorial, Canberra.
