In 2002 the Academy Gallery established a Volunteer membership program of proactive students and members of the wider community. The Volunteer Program in 2004 was reformed in to a Volunteer Club. Members of the Club actively assist the exhibition program by installing shows, lighting the artworks, serving at openings and at times even driving VIPs such as Australian artistic legend Mirka Mora around Launceston. The Volunteer Club has become a family of friends devoted to maintaining the high delivery of exhibitions and service offered by the Academy Gallery to Launceston and the wider art community.
Work, Place and Change will celebrate the ethos of the Volunteer Club and acknowledge the hard work performed during the past ten years of this valuable asset for Tasmania.
