Algalita and Captain Moore to Launch the Plastic Pollution Conversation Pacific Rim Tour 2012
In association with the Algalita Marine Research Institute, and proudly supported by the Institute for Marine & Antarctic Studies, Captain Charles Moore will present The Plastic Pollution Conversation at locations across the Pacific Rim, including Tasmania.
His presentation will include discussion of the newly added chapter to his acclaimed book, Plastic Ocean, now available in paperback (a limited number of copies will be available for sale and signing at the event). He will also discuss the recently completed Algalita/5 Gyres 2012 Asia Pacific Expedition through the Western Pacific Garbage Patch and the southern edge of the 2011 tsunami material making its way across the North Pacific Gyre.
A screening of the recent award winning film, "Trashed", narrated by Academy Award winner Jeremy Irons, will be part of the event. The goal is to raise the intensity of awareness about plastic pollution, its impact, the challenges it presents and motivate individuals and groups to effect change.
