Leigh Carmichael is the Creative Director of Dark Mofo and Board member of the Australia Council for the Arts. Leigh is a graphic designer and passionate Tasmanian.

Leigh studied at Hobart College and then majored in Graphic Design at the Tasmanian School of Art (UTAS) in Hobart. After working as a designer for Hobart based companies including Crank Media, G3 and Roar Film, he spent time working as a freelancer before being contracted to design the Moo Brew beer labels.

He has since been a key member of the MONA creative team, including being responsible for branding of Mona, Moorilla wine, MONA FOMA and many other brands that are part of the organisation. Leigh went on to launch the Dark Mofo festival as Creative Director, a program of large scale public art, music, performance and film, which takes place in Hobart in June. It’s now an annual festival, and arguably Tasmania’s flagship cultural event having recently won the prestigious Sidney Myer Performing Art Award at the Sydney Opera House.
