Facilitated by Dr Jane Woollard

Playwright Mary Pix explores our enduring desire for popularity, fashionableness and social status through this sparkling restoration comedy written in 1700. Third year students in the School of Creative Arts’ Theatre program spin a new take on this surprising and gutsy classic, with six directors each assigned one act of the play, and given licence to reset the action, interpret the play’s themes and bring Pix’s narrative into surprising settings. From London’s St James Park in 1700 to Launceston’s Cataract Gorge Park in 2018, our version of the play will take the audience on an entertaining ride through the centuries.
